Road Closures Underway for Composite Pole Installations on St. Thomas

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (May 6, 2025) – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA” or the “Authority”) advises the public that road closures are currently in effect to accommodate the installation of composite poles on the island’s overhead electrical infrastructure. The work is being conducted by Haugland VI on behalf of the Authority. 

This project involves planting new composite poles, tree trimming, and the installation of anchors. Please note, this work is strictly limited to WAPA’s overhead electrical infrastructure and will have no impact to roadways, government buildings, private properties, or other public infrastructurebeyond the temporary road closures required for the safety of the crews and the community. 

Road Closure Details: 

  • Dates: Now through May 10, 2025 

  • Times: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily 

  • Location: Pilgrim Terrace Bypass 

  • Affected Areas:Route 35, Catherineberg Road, Manassah Hill Road 

 

A Traffic Management Planhas been implemented for this project. All appropriate traffic control devices, detour signage, and trained personnel are on-site to safely guide traffic through and around the work areas.
