U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (April 23, 2026) – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or “the Authority”) is encouraging residential and commercial water customers on St. Croix to participate in its Lead and Copper Testing Program, a routine requirement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency designed to ensure the continued safety and quality of drinking water.
WAPA is currently seeking 80 eligible customers in the St. Croix district to enroll in the program through May 31, 2026. Customers who complete the testing process will receive a $50 credit on their water account.
This initiative is part of standard regulatory compliance and does not indicate the presence of lead or copper in the water system. Routine testing is conducted on a regular schedule to confirm that water quality remains within federal safety standards.
WAPA also acknowledges that in previous years, initial test results led to concern within the community. While the situation was resolved, the Authority understands the concern it caused and remains committed to transparency, accuracy, and maintaining public trust through consistent monitoring and clear communication.
How to Participate:
- Complete the eligibility survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CLMSurvey
