ST. CROIX, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (May 9, 2026) – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (“WAPA” or the “Authority”) is inviting Downtown Christiansted residents, businesses, and stakeholders to attend a Public Information Session regarding the upcoming Queen Street (Feeder 1A) Underground Electrical Project, with construction anticipated to begin in late-May 2026.
The information session will provide the community with an opportunity to learn more about the project timeline, anticipated traffic impacts, construction phasing, and the long-term benefits of the infrastructure upgrade. Representatives from WAPA and project contractor Haugland Virgin Islands will be available to answer questions from attendees.

The Queen Street (Feeder 1A) Underground Electrical Project funded by FEMA is part of WAPA’s continued efforts to modernize the electrical distribution system by transitioning critical infrastructure from overhead to underground service. The project is designed to improve electrical reliability, reduce vulnerability to storm-related outages, and strengthen overall system resilience in Christiansted Town.
WAPA encourages the Downtown Christiansted community to attend the session to learn more about the project and its anticipated impacts.
