ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS (Nov. 6, 2026) – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) confirms that a lineman sustained injuries today while performing field work on St. Thomas and is currently under medical care.
WAPA Chief Executive Officer Karl Knight expressed concern and acknowledged the risks employees face in carrying out the Authority's work.
"We understand that the work our employees perform every day can be hazardous. We do our best to maintain a strong culture of safety throughout the Authority, because the well-being of our people must always come first. As we keep our colleague in our thoughts, I ask the community to keep him and his family in your prayers. Let us also remember all the men and women of WAPA who report to work each day to serve our islands. We want every one of them to return home safely to their families at the end of the day," Knight said.
WAPA asks the community to keep the lineman, his family and colleagues in their thoughts during this time.
