The transitioning of the overhead electrical power grid to underground is a pivotal step towards the improvement in resilience, sustainability, and reliability, of the infrastructure distributing continuous power to all residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
 

Golden Grove Underground Project

Project Scope: Under-grounding Infrastructure from John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility along Route 669 to Queen Mary Highway
 

Customers Impacted: Approximately 45

Contractor: Vivot Equipment Corporation

Funding Source: 90% FEMA and 10% Local Match CDBG-DR funds provided by HUD

Critical Facilities/Communities:
Public Safety, VIPD K9 Unit and Training School, VI Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility.

Estimated Cost: $2,960,340.00

Midland Underground Project

Project Scope: Under-grounding four (4) 25 kV distribution lines coming out of the Gregory E. Willocks Substation, which feeds the west side of the island.
 

Customers Impacted: 6,268

Project Scope: Under-grounding Infrastructure starting in Franks Bay which will follow Bay Street and King Street up to Northshore Road.
